During a first reading of revised board policies designed to align with California School Boards Association standards, trustees raised questions and discussed suggested changes. The board specifically requested revisions to Board Policy 6173.4 concerning Education for American Indian Students. Superintendent's Report
Superintendent McGrath reported positive preliminary results from 2022-2023 state assessments, noting that detailed data would be shared at a future board meeting. She also outlined the district's Strategic Plan process, following up on the board's August 16 study session, and reviewed upcoming district activities and events. McGrath presented an enrollment report and highlighted trends she observed in the data.
Public Comment
The initial public comment period yielded no speakers. However, a request for public comment arrived later during information items. The board voted unanimously to add a second public comment period after trustee considerations, during which one parent, Lina Godfrey, addressed the board.
Future Agenda Items
Superintendent McGrath scheduled three presentations for upcoming meetings: Summer Projects 2023 in September, District Cybersecurity in October, and Food Service Operations in November.
